UNDERSTANDING KEYWORD DENSITY
What Is Keyword Density And Why Does It Matter?
Keyword density is the percentage of times a specific word or phrase appears in your content relative to the total word count. If you write a 1,000-word article and use a phrase 10 times, that phrase has a keyword density of 1%. It is one of the simplest ways to gauge whether your content is naturally optimised for the terms you want to rank for.
Getting the balance right matters. Too low and search engines may not associate your page with the topic strongly enough. Too high and you risk keyword stuffing, which Google actively penalises. Most SEO professionals aim for a density between 1% and 2% for primary keywords, with natural variation across related terms. This tool helps you check that balance before you hit publish.
